'White Boy Summer'

“White Boy Summer”, sometimes abbreviated WBS, is a viral phrase that has become co-opted by the international far right.

In March 2021 Chet Hanks, son of actor Tom Hanks, shared a viral music video in which he proclaimed the coming summer would be “white boy summer”. 

The fad and phrase was quickly appropriated by the international far right; Hanks has disavowed and condemned the far-right appropriation of the phrase.

The phrase and its abbreviation have been used by the far right in propaganda content, including content praising perpetrators of hate crimes.
